This date marks the mid-way point in the 29-Gift Challenge. The challenge is to give 29 gifts in 29 days to focus on what you have to offer others, inviting more abundance into your life. The gifts can be anything, but their giving has to be both authentic and mindful. My purpose is to prepare for the Mission to Higuey and get into the full spirit of giving.
Cami Walker, the author of 29 Gifts, has MS and on this date (April 2nd) she realizes that her custom-made cane is lost. She is supposed to go out with a client/friend Allie for a working lunch to brainstorm ideas for her new venture. She figures she left her cane at the book store two days earlier. They walk down Sunset Boulevard to a little pizza place at Hollywood Boulevard and Highland. After her initial panic, she finds she doesn't even miss the cane. Allie picks up lunch, and they decide later to get massages at Grace Healing Center and Cami picks up the tab as her gift for the day. When they got to Cami's house, they cook dinner together as a surprise for Cami's husband Mark.
My gift for today is to help at the St. Nick Breakfast at Hilkert Hall. I also brought two confirmation candidates to help out at the breakfast to help them achieve their required community service hours. Originally we intend to serve breakfast or clean tables between shifts. Since there were so many volunteers, we end up helping in the crafts area. This is a fun way to spend a few hours helping kids make ornaments for their Christmas tree and sharing the holiday giving spirit.
Greetings! It's been a while!
