On April 1 (Gift #14), Cami is having a good day and feeling strong, so she does five laps around the block without her cane. When she gets back home, she attacks the sink full of dishes and catches up on writing a summary of recent gifts on her computer. Then she makes a salad for dinner. All this is gift to her husband Mark, who is out to work and has been doing all the housework for months given her condition. Her husband is surprised to come home to food and a clean kitchen.
For me, today started well by sleeping in a bit, hitting the gym for a workout and enjoying a Peppermint Mocha at Starbucks (to celebrate the holiday season). Then I spent most of the day with Austin attending the Jamfest Cheer and Dance Event in Cleveland, cheering on two of his friends who are competing against other local teams. We've never been to one of the girls events before, so I wanted to make sure we made a concerted effort to get out there and support them like they support all the boys sports teams. Though the seeds of this were planted well in advance of the start of my 29 gifts challenge, I decide to make this my gift for the day because of the intent, the time invested, and the fact that I know it is really appreciated. Before we leave and upon returning, I make sure to take care of the other boys' requests for BK since Austin and I were gone for so long (and Alan was away at his weekly shooting match). The best part is, I come home to find our neighbor Tim has brought over their one-year-old dishwasher to give to us since ours broke and they just replaced theirs with an upgraded model. What a great gift since our dishwasher has been out of service since Thanksgiving!
Greetings! It's been a while!
