Cami goes out to lunch with her friend Megan. As her friend drives around and around before finding a parking spot. For her 13th gift (March 31st), Cami instinctively pulls out five quarters to plug the parking meter. After lunch, they head over to a metaphysical bookstore. Cami spends a lot of time in the used book section and ends up buying The Courage to Give because she likes the title. It turns out that the book was written by a woman with MS who found relief through giving. She starts thinking of her project again and dreams about the possibilities ahead.
My gift today is to St. Ignatius church. We got a holiday service schedule and a donation envelope in the mail which is a good reminder about Christmas Eve mass and the need to support this grand, historic church. I feel especially happy to give a monetary gift because of the parish's near-closure which is still a shock to think of that as it's fate. My husband Alan attended St. Ignatius from kindergarten through eighth grade, and many in his family have attended church there over the years. His grandmother still attends mass there and lives just a couple blocks away. Each Christmas eve, we go to Grandma's house to gather with family and celebrate the season. Then, a large group heads out to St. Ignatius for the Candlelight Service on Christmas eve. I went last year and was lucky enough to sit in the second row with Grandma. What a great view of the live manger! Looking forward to seeing it again this Christmas Eve.
Greetings! It's been a while!
