Good news! Eve's new design for her website goes live today with 144 givers! Cami writes a note to send to them all and reflects on her progress and the good things that have come to her since she started her gift-giving.
My gift for this day has been planned for a while now. A couple months ago, Aaron won a Pint-Size Heroes contest at school and got a free ticket to tonight's Cavs game. Plus, he got to go on the court to shoot hoops prior the game. I got 3 extra tickets so Aaron could bring a friend (Trevor) and so I could take Alan too for his birthday. We had a great night out and on top of that, the Cavs WIN!!
As though a reminder of conditions in the Dominican, we pass a homeless woman on our way home. She is in a wheelchair and it looks like one or both of her legs are amputated. Since I rely on charity as my way of helping those who need to beg for money on the street, we all pass her by without putting anything in her collection cup. She pleasantly wishes us a great night and still has a smile on her face even though we (and many others) pass her by without giving anything. A few steps past I realize I have money in my coat pocket. So I ask the boys if they want to run the $6 back and put it in her cup. Both of them do and wouldn't you know, they have smiles on their faces too when they come running back:)
