There are now 103 committed givers signed up on Cami's 29 Gifts website, nearly twice the number from just a few days ago. She notes that many new members are led here by a woman named Britt Bravo who wrote about the 29-Day Giving Challenge on her own blog (sounds familiar and now a not-so-original idea!). She notices that a few people on the website have been writing about "stealth gives" and for those who do it, they believe that giving anonymously is more honorable and spiritually rewarding. Some even quote Matthew 6:2-4 as evidence (giving in secret).
On Friday, April 11th, Cami has a massage appointment at Grace Healing Center. So she walks to the nearby grocery store to buy some flowers for the owner Grace for her gift for the day. Grace has been giving Cami a massage once a week for the past few months to help reduce her pain. Cami tries the "stealth giving" and leaves the flowers in the lounge coffee table. Grace comes in a few minutes later and is talking up the little plant and mentioning how they match the shirt Cami is wearing. Her weak poker face gives her away, so she smiles and accepts Grace's words of thanks.
Today's gift is my donation to the Marine's Toys for Tots program. This non-profit organization helps deliver the magic of the holidays to less fortunate children. Did you know that over 14 million children live in poverty in the US? The Toys for Tots program is now in its 62nd year. Their goal is to provide a shiny new toy during the Christmas holiday season to economically disadvantages youths and to build recognition, confidence and a positive childhood memory. It's funny because my sister and I just the other day were trying to go back in our memories and recall past Christmas gifts we received. So I realize the lasting memories such a gift can create.
Greetings! It's been a while!
