Gift 1 ~ The Call / FIAT Night

As I mentioned in my post earlier today, I am taking on the challenge of "29 gifts in 29 days" to prepare for Mission Possible VII. This will help create focus on what I have to offer others, inviting more abundance into life. Here is a glimpse at Gift 1.

Cami, the book's author, made her first gift on March 19th. This was about a month after she got the prescription from a friend to do this as treatment for her MS. Needless to say she was skeptical thus the delay in starting. Her gift was a call to her friend Lauri, who also struggles with MS. They ended up talking for an hour. When she hung up, she somehow felt calmer, lighter, and even had a smile on her face. While she was still smiling, the phone rang and a firm was calling to offer here a marketing consulting gig.

My first gift was of my time to the FIAT (Faith in Action Teens) program. Tonight was Family Night at FIAT, and I devoted two hours to help make tonight's program a success. Teens brought their families to this week's event, and our program theme focused on family values. Values we focused on were Respect, Responsibility, Communication, and Patience. We did an impromptu "role reversal" skit activity, with adults and teens "trading places" and acting out scenes like coming home late from a date, learning to drive a car, getting bad grades, etc. The team I was on did the skit on learning to drive, which is a scenario I'll surely be living for real in a few years! Later, we got a chance to do a hula hoop team building activity and though we didn't finish first, it was still a fun activity to do with a great group of teens. And to top it off, I ran into Rudy who I coach soccer with, and he joined me for the entire FIAT program. So he got exposure to FIAT, we got to reconnect a bit, and FIAT got another adult helper for the night!

Looking forward to Gift 2 and what the next gift of time, talent, or treasure may be and to who....
