On March 23 (Day 5), Cami starts feeling like something intangible has relaxed inside inside her. She begins to wonder: What is everyone started giving one small thing each day? How different would our world look? What would happen if thousands...or even millions of people committed to give away 29 gifts in 29 days? Cami and Mark go to church and being financially strapped, each reaches for $1 when the collection plate is passed. Cami then decides to give the $20 she had set aside for dinner out instead. Mark freaked out for a moment then they both blessed the bill and put it into the collection plate. After church they decide to head to the beach, and the heat and challenge of walking in the sand starts making her feel miserable resulting in a bit of a meltdown causing people to stare. A shower freshens her up, and upon seeing some girls skating, she decides she wants to skate too as a gift to herself. They rent skates and though she starts out choppy, she is able to skate on her own. They both feel it is a blessing attributed to the $20 gift at church.
My gift on this day of thanks is to our Armed Forces through the American Red Cross. My friend Shelli on Facebook shared a link yesterday about this opportunity to donate and send cards to troops during the holidays. My donation "provides relief and comfort to millions of military personnel, their families and veterans around the world." And I am sending a holiday card/note as well. I know it will be appreciated!
